We are NWA Verona
NWA is a volunteer association made up of Nigerian women living in Verona and its province. It has been operating in Italy since 2004. In 2017, with the establishment of its Lagos branch “NWAV”, the association launched the project “A NEW DAWN AT HOME”, focused on the social inclusion and reintegration of our fellow citizens who are victims of trafficking.
Our Mission:
- To promote the integration of Nigerian citizens and families;
- To foster opportunities for cultural exchange;
- To provide support and guidance to individuals and families through cultural activities, assistance, counselling, recreational initiatives, and collaboration with institutions and other associations.
Our Goals:
- To provide social assistance to all Nigerian citizens in the area, with particular attention to vulnerable groups: women, children, and the elderly;
- To support Nigerian girls in difficulty by helping them access services and search for employment opportunities;
- To offer support and guidance to families and minors facing hardship;
- To assist and provide counselling on accessing social and healthcare services, with a special focus on maternity and early childhood care;
- To promote awareness of the artistic and cultural heritage of the city of Verona and its province through guided tours and educational events.
Our Annual Activities Include:
- Guidance and education on accessing local services;
- Monitoring and analysis of the needs of Nigerian residents;
- Cultural engagement initiatives in schools, institutions, and associations;
- Ethnic language workshops for Nigerian and non-Nigerian children;
- Housing advice, immigration regulations, employment opportunities, and vocational training;
- Collaboration with other associations and local institutions to support integration processes.
